Iran's Produces Armored Mine Mopper

TEHRAN The prototype armored vehicle to be used for mine mopping will be produced by Iran's Defense Industrial Organization affiliated to the Defense Ministry. The mine mopper, called "Taftan One" will be capable of mopping all kinds of landmines weighing up to ten kilograms and planted 30 centimeters below land surface. The armored mine mopper can work over an area of 3,000 to 6,000 square meters to clear the landmines through detection and poundings, that brings about their destruction or detonation.

The armored mine mopper works on the principle of hydrostatics. It has the capability of being transformed into a remote control system. The mine mopper is currently being used by a search team that is trying to find the missing of the eight year sacred defense. The production cost of the armored landmine mopper is about $400,000. A foreign made landmine mopper costs $700,000. The Islamic Republic of Iran would be able to clear up landmines of different kinds in an area of 4 million hectares of the central region swiftly once the mass production of this armored vehicle is initiated.
